Enhanced Safety Training Course
Applicants must have completed BIM’s Basic Safety Training Course.
The training consists of three elements:
NFCI Greencastle Co Donegal
NFCI Castletownbere Co Cork
Rossaveal, Co. Galway – Coastal Training Unit (CTU1)
Fenit, Co. Kerry – Coastal Training Unit (CTU1)
Howth, Co. Dublin – Coastal Training Unit (CTU2)
Kilmore Quay, Co. Wexford – Coastal Training Unit (CTU2)
Clogherhead, Co. Louth – Coastal Training Unit (CTU2)
This programme is for applicants who have completed BIM’s Basic Safety Training Course and are due a refresher course.

This programme can also be delivered throughout Ireland in BIM’s mobile Coastal Training Units (CTU’s).
1 day course.
Those who successfully complete the training are issued with a BIM Enhanced Safety Training Card which needs to be renewed every five years.
Persons must have completed the BIM Basic Safety Training Course.
In order to work on-board a fishing vessel all fishing vessel crew members are required to undergo Basic Safety Training. (Fishing Vessel Basic Safety Training) Regulations, 2001 (S.I. 587 of 2001], and are required to renew it every five years.
