STCW Elementary First Aid is a one day first aid course.

This training is intended to meet the requirements as set out in Regulation VI/1 of the STCW convention and STCW Code Section A-VI/1 Paragraph 2.1.1.3

Classroom theory in Elementary First Aid covering Scene Safe, Aims of First Aider, Roles and Responsibilities, First Aid Kit, Communications, CPR & AED, Life threating Conditions, Choking, Wounds, Bleeding, Burns, Musculoskeletal injuries & Hypothermia.

Practical Exercise in CPR, Bandaging, Reporting, Assessing and general treatment.

Who is the Programme for

Seafarers who require a STCW Elementary First Aid certificate.

 

 

Locations

National Fisheries College of Ireland (NFCI), Castletownbere, Co. Cork.

National Fisheries College of Ireland (NFCI), Greencastle, Co. Donegal.

This programme is also delivered throughout Ireland in BIM Coastal Training Units (CTUs).

 

Duration and Timetable

Short course delivered over one day.

 

Training Delivery

Classroom and practical first aid exercises.

 

Certification

On successful completion of this programme, the learner will receive a STCW Elementary First Aid Certificate issued by BIM on behalf of Department of Transport.

 

Entry Requirements

Employment Opportunities

Mandatory course for seafarers.

 

Assessment

Written and practical exam.
