This programme will equip the learner with the essential knowledge and skills to work competently in seafood retailing. Learners will have an opportunity to develop their technical fish filleting skills and will undertake training in a range of topics including food safety, fish quality assessment, seafood labelling and culinary skills.

Unit 6 & 7 – Seafood Culinary Skills – Customer Service – Wednesday 1st November

 

Who is the Programme for

The programme is open to individuals who want to enhance their knowledge and skills in seafood retailing. It will be of particular interest to new entrants working with independent fishmongers or on a supermarket fresh fish counter. It would also be of interest to existing staff who want to receive a qualification in fishmonger skills.

BIM Head Office, Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin

 

Duration and Timeline

The programme will be delivered on seven days over a three-month period.

Learners will also receive a half-day on-site mentoring.

 

Training Methodology

Combination of classroom-based learning, mentoring, demonstrations and practical training sessions.

 

Certification

QQI Level 5, 15 Credit, Special Purpose Award in Fishmonger Skills.

This is a stand-alone special purpose award at level 5 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). Seafood Retail Sector.
