Stories from the sea webinar: cultural value of small-scale fisheries in Ireland

Stories from the Sea Webinar

Ireland has a rich maritime history with coastal communities that have been shaped by the activities of small-scale fisheries. While an economic value has been put on these activities, their influence on social and cultural life in Ireland is more difficult to measure and as a result, it’s an often-overlooked aspect of fisheries management.

We’re hosting a webinar this Wednesday 14 July at 15:00 GMT with a panel that includes a fisherman and storyteller, a writer/documentary maker and two historians with particular knowledge of the Irish maritime sector who will share stories from the sea and change the way we think about the socio-cultural capital value of small-scale fisheries in Ireland.
