BIM seafood donations to FoodCloud equate to 190 nutritious meals in 2024

BIM donations to FoodCloud last year resulted in 190 nutritious meals being served to those in need. A total of 80kg of freshly frozen mackerel and plaice was redistributed to three Irish charities.

Since 2017, BIM has been working with FoodCloud to ensure that any quality seafood remaining after its filleting workshops in Dublin and Cork is not wasted.  Donations to date have equated to almost 8,000 meals, with last year’s contributions avoiding 256kg of CO₂ emissions.

FoodCloud, founded in 2013 by Iseult Ward and Aoibheann O’Brien, connects businesses with surplus food to communities in need, addressing issues of climate change and food insecurity. The social enterprise shares BIM’s vision for preventing good food from going to waste.

“We are proud to continue our partnership with FoodCloud to make a positive impact on our communities and reduce our environmental footprint,” said Ian Mannix, Skills Manager, BIM.
