Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM), Ireland’s Seafood Development Agency, has opened applications for its Seafood Innovation Programme, a national initiative designed to strengthen new product development (NPD) and innovation capacity within the Irish seafood industry.
The programme aims to help companies embed NPD as a core strategic function, enabling them to bring new ideas to market more effectively. Participants will receive tailored one-to-one coaching focused on managing innovation, evaluating product potential, and launching commercially viable offerings in competitive domestic and international markets.
Targeted at professionals in seafood processing and primary production, the programme supports those seeking to enhance their innovation skills and integrate structured product development practices into their business operations.
Speaking about the launch, BIM’s Head of Business Intelligence, Paul Ward, said the programme had been “carefully curated” to encourage companies to view NPD as a cross-functional discipline. He added that it would help build a network of seafood innovators and equip participants with the skills needed to scale new products, improve competitiveness, and access export markets.
Expressions of interest for the Seafood Innovation Programme are open until 12 noon on Wednesday, 10 December 2025.
