BIM inviting seafood producers to take part in socio-economic survey of Irish Ports

Attention seafood producers. Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM), Ireland’s seafood development agency needs your help.

Oxford Research and Perceptive Insight are working with BIM to assess the downstream impact of the Irish seafood sector in Ireland’s top ten fishing ports.

The project aims to measure the depth of the sector in each port to accurately assess the importance of the Irish seafood sector.

The direct seafood sectors of fishing, aquaculture and fish processing have downstream impacts throughout coastal communities in Ireland. The supply chains for each sector generate revenue and employment indirectly.

The BIM led project aims to estimate the scale of the indirect sector in the top ten ports and their hinterlands. Consultants will be contacting seafood producers in each port requesting that to carry out a brief telephone survey (10 minutes) where they will ask for details on supply chain spending.

BIM requests your support with these surveys. The data collected is confidential and will be aggregated to accurately assess the importance of the Irish seafood sector. This information will be used to inform future policy.

For further details about the survey or to arrange to complete the survey by telephone, please contact the researchers by telephone at +353 1 6869 317 or email at info@pimr.ie.

You can also use these contact details to opt-out of the survey.
