Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the post of Nautical Skills Instructor in the National Fisheries College, Castletownbere, County Cork.

Reporting to the Principal of the National Fisheries College, the senior nautical skills instructor will be required to prepare students for Department of Transport, Tourism & Sport Deck Officer (Fishing) Certificates of Competency, including all ancillary courses. In addition, he/she will be required to deliver Basic Safety Training, Passenger Boat Certificate of Competency and other nationally accredited training courses at other designated venues in accordance with BIM’s training plan.

Applicants should hold a valid Class I Deck Unlimited (Merchant Marine) Certificate of Competency, a valid GMDSS General Operators Certificate and a clean driving licence.

Appropriate sea-going experience in a senior management role, small boat handling experience, a high degree of computer literacy and a self-motivated and flexible approach to training delivery would be distinct advantages.
