About BIM
BIM is a non-commercial semi-state body, formally established by statute (Irish Sea Fisheries Act 1952) and an agency of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM). It is the Irish State agency responsible for developing the Irish seafood industry. BIM’s strategy aims to enhance the competitiveness of the Irish seafood sector focusing on the following five key strategic priorities: Sustainability, Skills, Innovation, Competitiveness, Leadership.

The organisation has six business units: Seafood Technical Services, Skills Development Services, Corporate Services, Development and Innovation Services, Economic and Strategic Services, and Corporate Communications. BIM’s head-office is in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.

In supporting the seafood sector, BIM’s staff are also strategically located in the coastal communities which they serve, including offices in Galway and Killybegs. In addition, BIM’s two training colleges are located in Greencastle, Co. Donegal and Castletownbere, Co. Cork. Finally, BIM’s SIH (Seafood Innovation Hub) is located in Clonakilty, Co. Cork where it supports innovation and sustainability among Ireland’s seafood industry.

Brief description of Role
THE EU Map Data Officer will be responsible to support and develop BIM’s operational data management services and relevant seafood data in relation to Ireland’s coordination and collection of economic data to meet Ireland’s obligations under the EU Data Collection Framework (DCF) also known as the EU Multi-Annual Programme (EU MAP). The individual will be responsible for the coordination of data management practice and policies, including supporting data processes for operational services including the NSS (National Seafood Survey), EU MAP, data calls and associated databases. The role will provide support to the delivery of online data services e.g., data Catalogue and supporting the on-line survey and maintaining the Azure SQL database.

Salary
In accordance with the Public Sector, Department of Finance the approved Salary Scale is a salary range of €54,764 – €68,970 (as at 1st October 2023) per annum pro-rated with time worked.

Purpose of data collection and lawful basis

We process your personal data for recruitment purposes. The information we process is used to assess eligibility for the role applied for. We will seek to deal with your request without undue delay, and in any event within one month (subject to any extensions to which we are lawfully entitled). Any request to access personal data will be dealt with free of charge unless it is considered excessive in which case, we may charge a reasonable fee.
