BIM, Ireland’s Seafood Development Agency, is delighted to officially announce Mr. Jim O’Toole as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. O’Toole, who was appointed by the Board of BIM, brings to the position a wealth of experience in global food marketing, sustainability development and change leadership.
BIM, Ireland’s Seafood Development Agency, is delighted to officially announce Mr. Jim O’Toole as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. O’Toole, who was appointed by the Board of BIM, brings to the position a wealth of experience in global food marketing, sustainability development and change leadership.
Mr. O’Toole previously held the position of Director of Meat & Livestock and Sustainability Development in Bord Bia where he led a team of senior executives in the development of Bord Bia’s Origin Green initiative. Previous to this, he was responsible for the implementation of the agency’s Quality Assurance Schemes and gained valuable experience in the marketplace working with Bord Bia in London, Milan and Paris.
Commenting on the announcement, BIM’s Chairman, Kieran Calnan said; ‘I am delighted Jim O’Toole has taken up the position of Chief Executive of BIM. With his extensive experience in Bord Bia, Jim will apply his leadership abilities and knowledge of the agri-business sector towards implementing the shared vision BIM has developed for Ireland to become the international leader in high value, differentiated seafood products that satisfy the growing demand for healthy, safe and responsibly sourced seafood. On behalf of the Board and staff of BIM, we are looking forward to working with Jim to achieve the ambitious targets set out in the Government’s Food Wise 2025 strategy with a particular focus on Skills, Sustainability, Innovation and Competitiveness’
Mr. O’Toole added; ‘I am excited by the challenge of delivering on the vision that has been articulated by the Chairman and honoured to lead the team at BIM as we work closely with Industry to realise the potential of this valuable indigenous sector. I am thoroughly looking forward to meeting and gaining insights from as many of our stakeholders as possible in the next few months’
Up to his appointment, Mr. O’Toole chaired the Beef Working Group of the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative Platform and the International Meat Secretariat’s Beef Committee. He is a Board Member of the Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB).
Mr. O’Toole holds a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Science from University College Dublin. He has completed a number of professional development programmes at Ashridge Business School, Cranfield University and Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business.
