BIM is the national agency which supports and enables the development of the Irish Seafood Industry by providing technical expertise, business support, funding, training and promoting responsible environmental practice.

In 2022, BIM will manage a budget of over €63 million and the extensive services will be delivered through a staff team of 150, funded through the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

Reporting to the Board, the CEO will work closely with the Senior Management Team and the Board to deliver BIM’s new vision and five-year Corporate Strategy 2022-2026. The CEO will also lead the delivery of the seafood industry’s aspects of the Government’s overarching Food Vision 2030 policy, which will see Ireland become a world leader in sustainable food systems. Driving a highly strategic approach and leadership through implementation, the CEO and the strong team at BIM will be focused on the achievement of well-defined goals. With the impact of Brexit and the long-term impact of climate change, these goals aim to redefine the role of the organisation, and to positively reshape and strengthen the sector for the future. The priority goals are to: lead and nurture industry leadership; deliver results with solutions that effect change; invest for long term growth; and protect our environment and our sector. Successful strategy implementation at BIM will be achieved through authentic stakeholder engagement and a demonstrated commitment to on-going consultation and support for our community.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with significant career achievements that demonstrate the successful delivery of strategic objectives across a diverse stakeholder group, in the public and/or private sectors. He/she will bring a combination of team leadership skills and experience that will inspire a culture of coaching and development throughout the organisation and will add value through a knowledge of the marine, food or consumer goods sectors.
