Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM), Ireland’s seafood development agency, has appointed Richard Donnelly as its interim CEO. Richard currently holds the role of Development and Innovation Services Director at BIM.
Aidan Cotter, Chair of BIM, who made the announcement, referenced the central role Richard has played in supporting the industry through periods of significant change, including the development of initiatives that foster innovation, enhance value-added processing, and promote the adoption of new technologies across the sector. He stated:
“On behalf of the BIM board, I would like to congratulate Richard on his appointment as interim CEO and wish him every success in this important role. Richard has worked closely with a broad range of stakeholders, including industry representatives, government bodies, and research institutions, to drive BIM’s mission of enabling an innovative, competitive, and resilient seafood sector that contributes to Ireland’s coastal communities and national economy.”
Richard assumes his role on 10 November when BIM’s current CEO, Caroline Bocquel takes up her new position as CEO at Fáilte Ireland. Caroline has served as CEO at BIM for almost three years. A competitive process to appoint a permanent new BIM CEO is already underway.
Following the announcement, Richard Donnelly commented on how he was looking forward to his new role and engaging collaboratively with colleagues at BIM and across the industry in the coming months.
“I am honoured to accept this interim appointment and look forward to collaborating with colleagues across the senior leadership team, the wider BIM organisation, and our partners in the seafood industry. Together, we will focus on supporting and advancing the sector through this important period of development and change.”
