Congratulations to HF Foods who are one of seven finalists in contention for the ‘Green Seafood Business Award’ sponsored by BIM at the upcoming Green Awards in the Doubletree Hotel, Dublin on the 08 April.
Along with fellow nominees Quinlan’s, Island Seafoods, Glenmar Shellfish, Irish Seafood Producers Group, Shellfish Ireland and Sofrimar; HF Foods are delighted to be shortlisted for this prestigious award.
HF Foods is one of Leinster’s largest suppliers of fresh and smoked fish to hotels and restaurants. Included among our client base are most of Dublin’s 5 star hotels as well as being the main supplier to a number Michelin Star Chefs throughout Ireland.
Since 2013, HF Foods has worked on producing the most environmental smoked salmon possible. Their salmon is sourced only from fully compliant farms that have signed up to the latest in environmental ethic charters and is smoked using wood harvested from a fully sustainable forest using one of Irelands only zero emission smoking machines. All salmon is filleted and processed by hand using the minimum of machinery.
Since 2014, the company have set and achieved a target of reducing water, electricity and waste by 10%
This year, HF Foods are looking to reduce their water usage further in an attempt to recycle the waste. And all staff have signed up to attempting to achieve a further overall waste and electricity saving of 5% in 2015. The company has completed phase one of Origin Green and see it as a goal to achieve full compliance by 2016.
