Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) is delighted to sponsor the 2013 Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival which runs from 26-29 September. 

BIM will host a one-day business conference for Ireland’s oyster growers on Friday  27 September as its Festival  centrepiece.  The conference will be the 2013 go-to networking event for oyster growers and will feature an industry-focused programme and speaker line-up. 

US-based international oyster connoisseur, Julie Qiu, from www.inahalfshell.com  will analyse the latest consumer trends in the current global oyster market.

Guest speaker John O’Sullivan from Action Coach Ireland (ACI) www.actioncoachireland.com  will focus on “Mastery” in the oyster business. Conference attendees are indicating strong interest in ACI’s sessions on Money Mastery, Delivery Mastery, Time Mastery and Destination Mastery.

An innovation-led presentation  will be delivered by  Chris O’Reilly from Dollard Packaging www.dollard-packaging.ie as the conference programme explores the role  innovative packaging can play in bringing maximum added value to seafood products.

The challenges and opportunities of undertaking brand development in a competitive niche market will be explored by Caroline Hennessy, head of marketing and PR for craft Irish beer Eight Degrees Brewing www.eightdegrees.ie.

The conference will conclude with an oyster  and  Irish craft beer tasting and matching event during which oyster judges will offer feedback on the product Irish oyster growers offer  at this year’s Festival.
