Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) are preparing for what is set to be a very busy Skipper Expo on the 06 and 07 March in the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill. As primary sponsor of the annual fisheries trade show, BIM is looking forward to highlighting key projects and initiatives that will assist the Irish Fishing Sector.
Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) are preparing for what is set to be a very busy Skipper Expo on the 06 and 07 March in the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill. As primary sponsor of the annual fisheries trade show, BIM is looking forward to highlighting key projects and initiatives that will assist the Irish Fishing Sector. Safety at Sea is always a key theme and we will be promoting the importance of completing basic safety training and fishermen will be able to sign up for these courses with our Training Instructors from our Coastal Training Unit and at the BIM stand. Over 500 fishermen have already completed the new Enhanced Safety Training Scheme which not only provides vital safety training but grant-aid towards the new compact personal flotation devices with integrated personal locator beacons. BIM will be joining the RNLI to demonstrate this new technology with daily safety demonstrations in the pool at the hotel. In addition to safety, the inshore fishing sector is set to benefit from some progressive and community led initiatives that will assist in the development of this vitally important sector. BIM will be promoting the Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG) programme, the Inshore Fisheries Forums Initiative and the ACRUNET brown crab industry network project.
