Who is the Programme for

Persons working in the seafood industry or public service.

 

Locations

National Fisheries College of Ireland (NFCI), Castletownbere, Co. Cork.

National Fisheries College of Ireland (NFCI), Greencastle, Co. Donegal.

This programme can also be delivered throughout Ireland in BIM’s mobile Coastal Training Units (CTU’s).

 

Duration

This course is delivered over 5 days (full time)

 

Training Methodology

Practical Exercise on Very High Frequency (VHF), DSC, Navigation Telex (NAVTEX), Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon Stations (EPIRBS) and Search and Rescue Transponder (SARTs), batteries, Aerials, logsheets.

 

Certification

STCW – Global Maritime Distress and Safety Systems (GMDSS) Restricted Operators Certificate issued by BIM on behalf of Department of Transport

 

Entry Requirements

Working in the Seafood Industry or Public Service.

 

Progression

This programme will enable persons to meet the requirements of the training and certification for STCW – GMDSS ROC Radio

 

Employment Opportunities

This certificate will enable the learner to sail as radio operators worldwide in Sea Area A1

 

Assessment

Written and practical exam.
