About BIM

BIM is a non-commercial semi-state body, formally established by statute (Irish Sea Fisheries Act 1952) and an agency of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM).  It is the Irish State agency responsible for developing the Irish seafood industry.  BIM’s strategy aims to enhance the competitiveness of the Irish seafood sector focusing on the following five key strategic priorities: Sustainability, Skills, Innovation, Competitiveness, Leadership.

 

The organisation has six business units: Seafood Technical Services, Skills Development Services, Corporate Services, Development and Innovation Services, Economic and Strategic Services and Corporate Communications.  BIM’s head-office is in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.

 

In supporting the seafood sector, BIM’s staff are also strategically located in the coastal communities which they serve, including offices in Galway and Killybegs.  In addition, BIM’s two training colleges are located in Greencastle, Co. Donegal and Castletownbere, Co. Cork.  Finally, BIM’s SIH (Seafood Innovation Hub) is located in Clonakilty, Co. Cork where it supports innovation and sustainability among Ireland’s seafood industry.

 

Brief description of Role

The Corporate Services Director is responsible for leading and managing a multi-disciplinary team that enables the delivery of the corporate functions that underpin BIM’s strategic plan.  The role provides timely, expert and strategic information and advice to the senior leadership team to facilitate effective decision making, supported by the highest levels of governance.  The purpose of this role is to create and execute the strategy and plans underpinning all aspects of the delivery of Corporate Services functions to BIM and the industry.  The Director is responsible for driving operational efficiency, governance and compliance across the organisation through the provision of efficient services and allowing the external-facing business units to be responsive to industry, client and economic trends.

 

Salary

In accordance with the Public Sector, Department of Finance the approved Salary Scale is a salary range of €97,207- €120,237 (as at 1st March 2023) per annum pro-rated with time worked.

Tá an Stiúrthóir Seirbhísí Corparáideacha freagrach as foireann ildisciplíneach a threorú agus a bhainistiú a sheachadann na feidhmeanna corparáideacha atá mar bhonn le plean straitéiseach BIM. Soláthraíonn an ról faisnéis agus comhairle thráthúil, shaineolach agus straitéiseach don fhoireann shinsearach ceannaireachta chun cinnteoireacht éifeachtach a éascú, agus tacaíocht acu ó na leibhéil rialachais is airde. Is é cuspóir an róil seo an straitéis agus na pleananna atá mar bhonn agus mar thaca ag gach gné de sheachadadh feidhmeanna Seirbhísí Corparáideacha a chruthú agus a fhorghníomhú chuig BIM agus chuig an tionscal. Tá an Stiúrthóir freagrach as éifeachtúlacht, rialachas agus comhlíonadh oibríochtúil a thiomáint ar fud na heagraíochta trí sheirbhísí éifeachtúla a chur ar fáil agus ligean do na haonaid ghnó sheachtracha a bheith freagrúil do threochtaí tionscail, cliaint agus eacnamaíochta.
