BIM, as a public agency, are committed to fostering transparency, accountability, and innovation through the publication of high quality Open Data. By making key datasets freely accessible, we empower researchers and policymakers to engage with our work, drive evidence-based decision making, and unlock new value for society. Open Data supports our mission to deliver services effectively and ensures that the data we manage is used to its full potential in line with national policy and the Open Data Directive.

These datasets provide a comprehensive overview of marine waste collected through various initiatives supported by BIM. They include information on waste retrieved from aquaculture operations, unused fishing gear, and litter collected both at sea and along shorelines through the Fishing for Litter and Clean Oceans Initiatives. The data provides a summary of the total tonnage of waste collected across all categories per quarter in 2022.
