BIM celebrates European Maritime Day in Cork

BIM took part in European Maritime Day (EMD) in Cork this month. The annual event for Europe’s maritime community is held in a different European city each year.

Insights were shared with many of the 900+ delegates about European Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) impacts on the Irish seafood sector at the EMD conference in Cork City Hall where BIM had a stand.

At the public facing event, BIM’s Aquaculture Remote Classroom (ARC) welcomed visitors on board to learn how seafood is sustainably farmed while live cooking demonstrations using local Irish sustainable seafood took place at the BIM Taste the Atlantic seafood experience.

BIM was also delighted to welcome EU Commissioner for Fisheries and Oceans, Costas Kadis and Minister of State for Fisheries and the Marine, Timmy Dooley TD to host their joint meeting with representatives from the Irish seafood sector at its National College of Fisheries of Ireland in Castletownbere, Co. Cork.
