BIM conference to offer insights on business growth and succession planning for seafood companies

Seafood companies are being invited to attend the Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) conference, ‘Business Growth and Succession Planning’ this month. The event is taking place on Wednesday, 26 February at the Johnstown Estate in Enfield, Co Meath.

Expert speakers will provide valuable insights on business growth, succession planning, and mergers and acquisitions. Attendees will also hear about specific BIM supports that can help seafood companies on their business growth or succession planning journey.

The conference will begin with a welcome address by Caroline Bocquel, CEO, BIM, followed by a presentation by Robin Paxton, editor-in-chief of Intrafish, on ‘A global perspective on the seafood sector.’  Other speakers include Brian Farrell, CEO of Kepak Foods Division, Ryan Scatterty, CEO, Thistle Seafoods, John Herlihy, Chairperson Carne Group and Simon Best, Acton House Farm and former Irish international rugby player.

Feargal McCormack, Partner and Head of Family Business at AAB, and Michael Farrell, Business Advisory Partner at AAB, will share their expertise on succession planning while Patrick Lynch, Corporate Finance Partner AAB and Roisin O’Shea, Senior Investment Manager with the Irish Strategic Investment Fund will share insights on business growth through mergers and acquisitions.

Richard Donnelly, Development and Innovation Services Director, BIM said that succession planning is one of the biggest challenges for family businesses.

“The purpose of this event is to encourage seafood companies in Ireland to begin planning for their future. Unlike the one day conference, business growth and succession planning are complex processes. It takes time and effort to develop comprehensive plans that meet the needs of a seafood business and every business has a unique set of characteristics,” he adds.

The conference serves as a vital starting point for seafood companies looking to plan for the future, showcasing BIM’s services that support businesses throughout the growth and succession planning process.

Details on additional speakers to be announced.
