EU MAP Executive (Engineer Grade II)

Bord Iascaigh Mhara/BIM, the Irish Sea Fisheries Board, is the state agency with primary responsibility for the sustainable development of the Irish seafood industry. The organisation has five business units: Seafood Technical Services, Skills Development Services, Corporate Services, Development and Innovation Services and Economic and Strategic Services supported by the Corporate Communications team.

 

We are seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the post of:

 

 

EU MAP Executive (Engineer Grade II)

 

This is a permanent post which can be based in any of our offices located in:-

 

EU MAP Executive is a key role in our Economic and Strategic Services Unit (ESSU) and is responsible for co-ordinating the Economic Data Collection Programmes, giving effect to the provisions of EU Multi-Annual Plan legislation.   The role involves delivering planned seafood economics research projects to fulfil industry needs as well as providing advice and reports to inform business and policy decisions in all sectors of the seafood industry and government at Irish and EU level.

 

The Economics & Strategic Services Unit (ESSU) brings together BIM staff with expertise in economics, data collection, storage and analysis, and the provision of expert insight and advise in key areas affecting the seafood industry. Amongst its diverse functions the Economics and Strategic Services Unit is tasked with providing economic evaluation and advice on the Irish seafood sector to the Department of Agriculture, Food & Marine, the European Commission (Data Collection Framework) and directly to the Irish seafood industry.

 

Specifically, the unit is required, annually, to design, plan, and implement data collection programmes and thereafter analyse the resulting datasets to meet Ireland’s current and future needs under the EU Data Collection Framework and the national policy framework, whilst undertaking special studies such as the development of the bio-economic model to measure the value chain of seafood.

The successful candidate will be appointed at the lowest entry point on BIM’s Engineer Grade II with a starting salary of €63,908 (€63,908 – €78,715).
