BIM offer Passenger Boat Proficiency training with the following two options:
OPTION A: Applicants holding a Deck Officer (Fishing Vessel) Certificate of Competency
Applicants must provide BIM with:
- A photocopy of the highest Deck Officer (Fishing Vessel) Certificate of Competency
- A valid STCW 95 Elementary First Aid Certificate
- An original and signed Medical Fitness Certificate from a registered medical practitioner including evidence of satisfactory colour vision
- A completed registration form (pdf 1,630Kb) )
- A completed application form (pdf 102Kb)
- A completed declaration of Sea Service form (pdf 22Kb)
Card administration cost: €80.00 (This should accompany the application form)
OPTION B: BIM Passenger Boat Proficiency Training

Applicants who do not hold a Deck Officer (Fishing Vessel) Certificate of Competency will need to achieve a QQI Merit grading (65 to 79%) on assessment following BIM Passenger Boat Proficiency training.

In addition applicants must hold/acquire the following:
- A valid STCW 95 Personal Survival Techniques Certificate
- A valid STCW 95 Elementary First Aid Certificate
- An original and signed Medical Fitness Certificate from a registered medical practitioner including evidence of satisfactory colour vision
- An original Declaration of Sea Service signed by a Peace Commissioner
