Gerard has been involved in the fishing industry since he was a teenager and spent many years working on trawlers. It was during this time he realised he had a huge passion for the seafood industry and has gained extensive knowledge over the last 20 years. In 2009 he started working at Fisherman’s Catch as a sales assistant where he progressed to Manager in this very busy fish shop.
He is responsible for the day to day running of the shop and is involved in marketing initiatives like local radio and newspaper advertising. Gerard won the BIM Young Fishmonger 2015 competition, a title he is very proud of.
Laura started working with Kish Fish a number of years ago where her passion for seafood has grown. She is now working with Oceanpath and has been managing Reid’s Fish Market for them for the last number of years where fish sales have grown year on year.
Her seafood product knowledge and customer service skills speak for themselves and are very obvious when you meet her in this very busy fish shop at the top of the pier in Howth.
Donagh works in the family seafood business which was established by his father Denis in 1988. Having grown up with the business he joined it himself three years ago. He strives to continue doing the great work his father started.
He has a passion for the seafood industry and he has a vision to build on the success of his family’s seafood business. His customers travel from near and far to buy good quality seafood which he prides himself on supplying at competitive prices.
Lar has been involved in the fishing industry from the time he was a young child helping his mother on her fish stall in Clonakilty. It was there he learnt all about the fish merchant business where he feels it is as much about the people you meet as it is about the fish you are selling.
His retail business is going from strength to strength and he feels with his track record in fish sales The Fresh Fish Shop is going to continue growing.
