Four Irish Seafood Companies nominated for the 2017 Green Awards!

Four Irish Seafood companies - Burren Smokehouse, Co. Clare, Fisherman’s Co-op, Castletownbere, Co. Cork, Irish Fish Canners, Co. Donegal and Woodstown Bay Shellfish Ltd., Co. Waterford have been shortlisted for the ‘Green Seafood Business Award’, sponsored by BIM, Ireland’s Seafood Development Agency, for the upcoming Green Awards on the 21st February in the Clayton Hotel, Ballsbridge, Co. Dublin.

Four Irish Seafood companies - Burren Smokehouse, Co. Clare, Fisherman’s Co-op, Castletownbere, Co. Cork, Irish Fish Canners, Co. Donegal and Woodstown Bay Shellfish Ltd., Co. Waterford have been shortlisted for the ‘Green Seafood Business Award’, sponsored by BIM, Ireland’s Seafood Development Agency, for the upcoming Green Awards on the 21st February in the Clayton Hotel, Ballsbridge, Co. Dublin.

Now in its 6th year, the Green Awards are a prestigious awards event recognising excellence in green practice across Ireland’s business community.  Ireland’s Seafood Sector has demonstrated its commitment to sustainability at the awards with Island Seafoods not only winning the ‘Green Seafood Business Award’ sponsored by BIM but they also beat off strong competition from blue chip companies such as Coca Cola, Glanbia, Dairygold and a range of high technology companies to win the overall ‘Green Business of the Year’ award in 2015.  Wexford company, Sofrimar, were the worthy recipients of the ‘Green Seafood Business Award’ last year.

This year’s finalists are all nominated for the ‘Green Seafood Business Award’ for their outstanding efforts to improve their local environmental imprint through reduced energy, water consumption, and waste prevention management.
